Important terms and expressions in the Pali Suttas are sometimes misrepresented in existing translations.
Unless readers habitually compare different translations to identify discrepancies, they may unknowingly incorporate these inaccuracies into their understanding of the texts.
For example:

Yoniso manasikāra is frequently translated as “appropriate” or “wise” attention, ignoring the literal meaning of yoniso. Yet this expression captures a core element of the practice that is the direct precursor to Right View
(MN 2;
SN 45.55; MN 43).
The two aims of this site are:

Providing plain translations of the Suttas that highlight how the original text often lacks widely ingrained layers of interpretation over key terms—even if this makes the standalone English text bland or even confusing compared to more interpretive translations.
